Garbage Boy For A Day

It’s all about garbage and social tyranny…

Thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation Six year old Ethan Dean lived his dream on
Tuesday.

Ethen has a garbage truck bedspread and pillow. He has garbage truck toys. He had a garbage truck birthday party.
Then on Tuesday he experience what it's like to be a garbage truck driver. The boy who has cystic fibrosis rode in a real garbage truck through downtown Sacramento California, collecting trash and recyclables, just like he's always wanted.  I can’t help but wonder if he had to be strapped into the back seat.  Oh,    there is no back seat in Garbage trucks. Mmmm!
"We pretty much knew it was going to be about garbage trucks," said Ethan's dad, Ken Dean, laughing. He's been watching them come down the street since he first learned how to crawl, his dad said.
Ethan was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as an infant and began treatment at eight weeks old. The genetic disorder is characterized by a buildup of thick mucus and frequent lung infections, and the median life expectancy is about 40 years old.
His dad hopes none of that will be on Ethan's mind Tuesday. The only thing he needs to think about is garbage. And trucks.
"I want him to have fun and not have to worry about the day-to-day," his dad said. "It's all about him."
THE BOTTOM LINE: I hope Ethen gets his wish for real someday, and becomes the best garbage man in the State.  I posted this story partly because I saw the story on TV and was moved by it, and partly because I recently canceled my own garbage pickup because the Communists in the County decided to take control of the Garbage business like they take control of everything else.

Socialism has come all the way down to garbage control.  Which is of course not really garbage control at all it’s just the continual drive of the Fabian Communist control of people.  The Government always knows what is best for its subjects.

In the county I live in we use to have four garbage companies to pick from.  It’s called private enterprise, capitalism and healthy competition.  Well the county in  yet another surreptitious effort to control society had a better idea.  They awarded just one Garbage Company a contract and guess what?  If you guessed that my bill immediately went up by 30 percent, you would be right.

I found that I had one advantage that all the incorporated towns and cities in the county didn’t have.  I did not live in an incorporated town. Those that did had no recourse at all. If the Garbage company raised their rates one hundred two hundred three hundred percent they would have to pay it.  THEY COULD NOT CANCEL.  It was the law of the autocracy.

Below is the letter that I sent to the garbage company with a CC to the County. The names have been redacted to protect the innocent.

Dear Sir/Madam,

This letter is to inform XXXXXXXXXXX & Waste Services LLC that I wish to cancel the regular pickup of my garbage on Wednesdays of every week.

This decision is not in any way a reflection on the service that I have received from XXXXXXXXXXXXX or its personnel.  I came to my decision based on the political action of the county and their un-American socialistic tyranny of eliminating all choice of business in garbage pickup and recycling in XXXXXX County.   And now since I am a captive with no choice, my quarterly charge went from less than $50.00 per quarter to more than $60.00 per quarter.  Which is nearly a 30 percent increase, way outside the current yearly inflation rate of 1.0 percent.  In addition, there is now only one man on a truck instead of two, cutting your out-of-pocket expenses by the wages of one person per truck.

That being said, it makes no difference to me how you run your business, or how much profit you make after expenses and taxes. But I am a captive here because I have now been denied a choice in the market.  This is not only un-American, it is a violation of free enterprise and the healthy competitiveness that use to exist.  It is a monopoly which is a situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service. By definition, a monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition, which identifies this application, and which often results in high prices and inferior products or service.  And it just may be a violation of ‘Antitrust, ‘no matter how small potatoes it might be.

In conclusion I have decided to go into business for myself, recycle, compost, and a run to the county dump as necessary.  Maybe I can interest the rest of the people on my road to do the same.  I know one already has.  Who knows, Americanism might just catch on in the whole town, county, state and country.  ‘Making America Great Again!’ One garbage can at a time…

It’s my choice as an American!

Thank you for your service.

P.S. I now have a half dozen garbage cans for recycling and a ‘Worm Farm’ that processes all my organics.  I find that I not only get paid for my recyclables but they more than pay for my two trips per year to the dump.  I now produce less than .01 percent of the waste that the garbage company use to haul away from me.  And it’s free, I’m even in the black. Plus I support a thousand worms.

Maybe when Ethen grows up…he can invent a better way to process waste than forcing people to pay to have it thrown on a big pile and buried, just to leave the problem to future generations.

It’s what government is good at, they just kick the can down the road…

Thanks for listening
