Banning Words

You have heard of “Book Banning” but how about “Word Banning”. Well… this mind controlling ban on the word “birthday” among other words by the DOE is over in the Big Apple.

Because of the outrage, the New York City Department of Education has, at least for the time being, decided against going forward with its original plan to ban the use of 50 words on standardized school tests. Among the words on the forbidden list were birthdays, celebrities, cigarettes, crime, divorce, evolution, politics, sex, and religion.

The recommendation was originally made last week, and New York Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott listen to him tell WCBS-TV his department was simply giving guidance to the test developers.

“Poverty” was also on the forbidden list, and Sy Fliegal with the Center for Educational Innovation told WCBS that was ridiculous. “The Petersons take a vacation for five days in their Mercedes … so what? You think our kids are going to be offended because they don’t have a Mercedes? You think our kids are going to say ‘I’m offended; how could they ask me a question about a Mercedes? I don’t have a Mercedes!’” Fliegal said.

After an uproar from parents over the proposed word ban, the DOE temporarily backed down, but the department released a statement saying it would “continue to advise companies to be sensitive to student backgrounds” and “avoid unnecessary distractions that could invalidate test scores.”

The very Idea of Banning words by the DOE, whether State or Federal, is so absolutely un-American it is preposterous. Reminiscent of Orwell’s 1984 it reeks of the philosophy of mind control.

Some of the words and or phrases on the original forbidden list include: Abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, or psychological) Alcohol (beer and liquor), tobacco, or drugs. Birthday celebrations (and birthdays) Bodily functions Cancer (and other diseases) Catastrophes/disasters (tsunamis and hurricanes) Celebrities Children dealing with serious issues Cigarettes (and other smoking paraphernalia) Computers in the home (acceptable in a school or library setting) Crime, Death and disease, Divorce, Evolution, Expensive gifts, vacations, and prizes. Gambling involving money, Halloween, Homelessness, Homes with swimming pools, Hunting, Junk food, In-depth discussions of sports that require prior knowledge, Loss of employment. Nuclear weapons, Occult topics (i.e. fortune-telling) Parapsychology, Politics, Pornography, Poverty, Rap Music, Religion, Religious holidays and festivals (including but not limited to Christmas, Yom Kippur, and Ramadan) Rock-and-Roll music, Running away, Sex, Slavery, Terrorism, Television and video games (excessive use) Traumatic material (including material that may be particularly upsetting such as animal shelters) Vermin (rats and roaches) Violence, War and bloodshed, Weapons (guns, knives, etc.) Witchcraft, sorcery, etc.

In other words, we are not only headed toward losing our freedom of speech, we won’t be able to speak period, because I can guaran@#$%^&tee you that this list will get bigger and bigger.

You’ve must have seen the ad on TV about calling something “GAY”; I think it’s called “KNOCK IT OFF”. The homosexuals have hijacked the definition of the word gay right out of the dictionary, and now no one else can use it for what Webster said it was intended.

Well… if that isn’t enough criminalization of words, how about making the truth a hate crime… Yes the politically correct mind controlling brain dead idiots, want to make it a crime to verbalize the truth. An example is, they want to make it illegal to use the word illegal, especially if it’s true! Watch an ad of the hate crime, ‘using the word illegal’ called “drop the I’ word”

THE BOTTOM LINE: I believe it is becoming quite obvious that Orwell’s 1984 will become a reality. I just hope and pray it doesn’t happen in my lifetime or my kids lifetime or my grandkids lifetime or my… Well you get the idea!

I think we should make “Political Correctness” and “left thinking” a hate crime…
