How Many zeros in a Billion?

How Many zeros in a Billion? The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR money.

I think all of us at one time or another has had difficulty wrapping our collective minds around big numbers like millions or especially billions.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases. The following examples may be of some help.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was preaching the Beatitudes and feeding 5000 people with 5 little fish. We need Him in Congress.

C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were Living in the Stone Age.

D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth.

E. At the rate our government is spending it, a billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain... let's look at New Orleans. It's amazing what you can learn if you know some simple math. For example, Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans.

Interesting number... What does it mean? Well...

If you were one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans, each of you would get $516,528.00. (That’s every man, woman, and child) Wow that is more than a half a million for each person tax free. Hurricanes can be profitable

Or... you can look at it this way, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets 1,329,787.00.

Or... If you are a family of four...Your family gets $2,066,012.00.

Hey! Washington, D.C. Are all your calculators broken, or is it just that the math is too difficult?

The following are just a few of the taxes each of us pays to the governments around the country to raise this kind of incomprehensible money, most of which we pay in some form each and every year.

The total taxes are about 59.7 percent of your income. You live on about 40.3 percent of your income

The government gets to waste more of your money than you get to spend.

So…What do you get for all these taxes? Well nothing, unless you live in New Orleans that is, then you should be able to retire --- rich.... off of the sweat of others.

Oh! YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Do you know, not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago...And in spite of it, our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
And……………………………….
We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in the world...
And Mom, stayed home to raise the kids.

So what happened? Can you spell --- Politically Correct Multi-Cultural Career Social Communist Politicians?

And you still have to press '1' For English…That is unless you speak Arabic, then, well… I guess you just listen and speak Arabic…
