Hillary and the Red Phone

The “Red Phone” has become an Icon of presidential resolve

By de Andréa

During the 2008 presidential race Hillary Clinton warned that if a national security crisis arose with Barack Obama in the White House, and the “Red Phone” rang alerting him at 3 a.m., he could not be trusted to adequately respond. Did Hillary Rodham Clinton turn out to be right all along, at least about this?

Hillary’s warning in a campaign ad suggested that an Obama White House would so downplay a threat posed by terrorism that “the government’s focus would shift away from the harsh reality of an attack, that the tactics used to protect the homeland would be severely compromised. Instead, Obama would turn his attention to becoming more popular in the world and stress negotiations over a hardball defense.

That attitude has trickled down to all levels of government responsible for national security.

On Thursday, President Obama sought to calm Americans’ fears about the terror threat following the attempted bombing of a plane on Christmas Day. But “there wasn’t much to see in the White House other than bungling of previous bungling, as the administration rescheduled Obama’s address to the country several times. At 8 a.m., the White House said the president would speak at 1 p.m., then at 3 p.m. At 3 p.m., the White House said Obama would speak at 4:30 p.m. He finally took the podium at 4:34 p.m.

In Obama’s trip to Cairo last year to address the Muslim world, really said it all, he said, “It is part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.” I just can’t even imagine what document, book, or rule that came from. If he has time for that kind of nonsense regarding America’s enemy, then he does not have a clue who our enemy is, or is not spending enough time thinking about how to thwart this enemy.

But it is not like we weren’t warned by Hillary Clinton. Another 2008 presidential candidate, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, declared Friday morning that the Fort Hood shootings and the Christmas Day bombing incident show that Obama and his advisers have been “fundamentally wrong” in their approach to this war. Giuliani, who was New York's mayor when terrorists struck on Sept. 11, 2001, told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” viewers that the president has tried to let “political correctness trump reality.” Giuliani said the Obama administration came into power with the belief that President George W. Bush’s response to the 9/11 attacks was unnecessarily severe, and had alienated America’s potential allies abroad.

Obama has the new age philosophy that the answer to everything is to negotiate. In other words compromise, even your country’s basic core beliefs. “Can’t we all just get along” is Obama core belief. “Let’s have a group hug’. This type of philosophy eliminates the need to be decisive.

Overwhelming odds
I believe there is a time an a place for negotiations, but when the other side has never in its history of 1400 years proved that they were willing to play nice, then the negotiations should be over and hard line military force should begin. No… I mean overwhelming, bent on winning the war even if it means the total destruction of the enemy. This is what the “Red Phone” has come to mean. The hard choice…

Little is known about the intent of President Truman regarding the atomic attack on Japan, should they not have surrendered unconditionally. The U.S. had two other atomic bombs being built, much larger and more powerful than the ones dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the second bomb was dropped the enemy knew that if they did not surrender, all the islands of Japan would still be a nuclear wasteland today. Overwhelming odds ended the war.

Can’t we all just get along and have a group hug? No we can’t. Nor should we. Not with an enemy that has been bent on subjugating the world nations since its beginning 1400 years ago. We are not going to change the agenda of Islam through negotiations. As long as they are standing upright, the nation of Islam will be determined to control the world under the oppressive Sharia law. Moreover deception is their most powerful weapon. We must pull the prayer rug out from under them, completely….

We truly need to tell out allies what we intend to do and then win this war with overwhelming odds and not look back. The alternative is that Islam will bleed the west until our veins run dry.

How much blood are you willing to spill in the sand just to be politely correct or to appease the multi-cultural elitists of this world?
